I commend Scott Dalgarno, pastor of Wasatch Presbyterian Church, for his well-written op-ed, "JFK would write 'Profiles in Disappointment'" (Opinion, April 27).

As a member of Utah's "predominant faith," I often pray for my church leaders to speak out on the issue of reasonable gun control legislation. They certainly have no problem expressing themselves on other moral issues such as abortion, gambling, pornography, homosexuality and even immigration, but they remain silent on this matter.

Certainly, having reasonable laws in place to offer some protection to God's children who are already here on Earth should be at least as important as laws to protect the unborn.

Thank you, Pastor Dalgarno, for your courage in speaking up for us.
