Re "Lawmakers blast Layton police chief for praising gun-bill veto" (Tribune, April 30):

Just what is it that Rep. Curt Oda, R-Clearfield, and the rest of his cronies in the Legislature don't get?

Police chiefs across the nation wanted the governor to veto the bill that would have let Utahns carry concealed guns without a permit. You know, the police are the ones who take an oath to defend us, etc.

What is next on Oda's agenda? Tell the fire department chiefs where fire hydrants should be placed and how to correct their firefighting procedures?

It is really beyond belief that the majority of those on the Hill can continually go against the wishes and desires of their constituents.
