Southern Utah could not hold a 5-stroke lead as Houston Baptist came from behind to capture the American Sky Conference golf championship Wednesday.

The Huskies were down five strokes on the back nine at the par 72, 6,936-yard Dominion Country Club to take a three stroke win over the Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds also finished second last year in their final Summit League championship.

SUU had a one-shot lead over the Huskies heading into the day's play and extended it to five shots as the teams made the turn. Houston Baptist won the tournament at 7-over par 871, while SUU finished second at 10-over 874. Utah Valley was another stroke back in third place while Sacramento State finished fourth at 877.
