Former Park City High teacher facing sex charge

A fired Park City High School teacher faces a sex charge involving a teenager.

Robert E. Rauzi, 33, is due in court on June 26 on class B misdemeanor charge of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with 16- or 17-year-old that was filed against him in Summit County Justice Court. He was charged on April 1, and if convicted, could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Rauzi has pleaded not guilty and wants his case heard by a jury.

Though more detail isn't publicly available, the alleged offense occurred Jan. 3, according to court documents.

It was brought to the Park City School District's attention on Jan. 3 or Jan. 4, said Tim McConnell, associate superintendant over human resources.

Rauzi, who taught health sciences and was an athletic trainer, was immediately suspended. After an internal investigation, the district sent him a notice of termination on Jan. 15.

Rauzi had taught at the school for five years, McConnell said. He could not comment on whether the alleged victim was a student or if the incident happened on school grounds.
