Next weekend is Mother's Day. One focus of the weekend will be the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in the fight against breast cancer. This is a worthy cause, and we all need to be aware of an aspect of breast cancer that has been overlooked — men having breast cancer.
My father, Maurice E. Langford, died this February from breast cancer. He was 93.
Dad was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly five years ago, although he had it long before then. He had a good size lump in his breast when he finally mentioned it to the doctor. He didn't realize men could get breast cancer. As we race for the cure, let's also get the word out to men.
