On May 10, local singer-songwriter Peter Breinholt and the award-winning American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic will join together for an evening of folk music under the stars at the Waterfall Amphitheater at Thanksgiving Point. The spring concert marks the second collaboration between Breinholt and the Lyceum Philharmonic.
Breinholt commented in a press release: "When the Lyceum Philharmonic approached me two years ago about performing for their Veterans Day program, I jumped at the chance to work with these talented young artists. A year and a half later, I am thrilled to once again have the opportunity to perform my newly-orchestrated songs at Thanksgiving Point." Lyceum Philharmonic Conductor Kayson Brown said, "We perform a lot of Bach, Brahms and Beethoven, but I can't tell you how much we enjoy Breinholt. The opportunity for these young musicians to perform living and breathing folk music with a world-class folk artist like Peter is more than an education it's a lot of fun! We loved working with Peter two years ago, and are very excited to perform together again this May at Thanksgiving Point. In addition to Peter's music, the Philharmonic will also be performing Dvořák's "New World Symphony," one of the most popular and powerful examples of American music. I expect the entire evening to be meaningful, enjoyable, and inspiring to all those who come." The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at 3900 Garden Drive in Lehi. Tickets in advance are $10 adult/$8 child or senior. At the door, prices are $12 adult/$10 child or senior.
Tickets are available by phone at (801) 768-4900 or online at www.ThanksgivingPoint.org.
In addition the Philharmonic will perform with the Piano Guys this weekend at Abravanel Hall.
