Men's tennis: BYU faces Memphis in NCAA 1st round

The BYU men's tennis team, ranked 38th nationally, takes on No. 32 Memphis in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships on Friday at 10 a.m. (MDT) at the University of Mississippi.

"We're excited that we can continue our season and have the opportunity to represent the university in Mississippi," BYU coach Brad Pearce said.

The Cougars, coming off a second-place finish in the West Coast Conference, enters the tournament with 10 wins in its last 12 matches. This will be the first match between BYU (21-6) and the Tigers (14-7).

Memphis is riding a seven-match win streak going into the tournament, including a victory over No. 50 Louisville. In the second match of the day on Friday, host Ole Miss plays Lehigh.

The winners from Friday's matches advance to the round of 32 on Saturday.
