Sports briefs: 3A baseball tourney moved to Orem

Prep baseball • The Utah High School Activities Association announced Sunday night that the Class 3A state tournament has been moved from Dixie State College to Utah Valley University in Orem.

The move was made because Dixie State was named the host site for the NCAA Division II West Regional.

Kevin Dustin, assistant director of the UHSAA, said updated brackets will be on the UHSAA website Monday. Spanish Fork also will host four games, Dustin said in an email. The tournament resumes on Thursday.

Normandy won't run Preakness

Horse racing • Normandy Invasion trainer Chad Brown says his fourth-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby will miss the Preakness and get ready for a summer campaign that includes the Travers Stakes in August. Normandy Invasion took the lead in the stretch of last weekend's Derby before finishing fourth, 3½ lengths behind Orb.

Auto racing • Fernando Alonso won the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona by nearly 10 seconds in a dominant performance in front of his home fans to close the gap on championship leader Sebastian Vettel and get back in the Formula One title race.

Young arrested again in California

NFL • Authorities say former Detroit Lions receiver Titus Young has been arrested in California for the third time in a week. Police said Young was arrested late Friday in San Clemente for allegedly breaking into a home.

Serena, Nadal win titles in Madrid

Tennis • Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-4 in the final of the Madrid Open to retain her No. 1 ranking and collect her 50th career title, while Rafael Nadal eased by Stanislas Wawrinka 6-2, 6-4 for his fifth title since returning from a knee injury.
