DVD • "True Blood" long ago diverged from Charlaine Harris' novels. The HBO series is incredibly more bloody, more sexy and more confused.
Season 5 was the weakest yet and its characters more annoying than they'd ever been. By focusing so heavily on the Vampire Authority, "True Blood" lost its humanity.
It wasn't a total loss fans still had a reason to tune in but there was little to attract anyone who wasn't already hooked on the show. The extras on the DVD/Blu-ray release are for obsessed "True Blood" fans.
In addition to the standard commentaries, there is background information on the various characters, their relationships and insight into the Vampire Authority.
