Austin Wates' RBI single in the bottom of the ninth gave the Oklahoma City RedHawks a 3-2 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday afternoon.
Salt Lake pitcher Mitch Stetter was pulled with two out and Brett Wallace, who had led off the ninth with a single, on first base. Out of the bullpen, Chad Cordero surrendered a single to Carlos Perez and hit Che-Husan Lin with a pitch to load the bases before Wates drilled a 2-1 pitch off of the warning track in right center to end the game and snap the Bees' nine game winning streak over the RedHawks.
Scott Cousins doubled home the go-ahead run for Salt Lake in the top of the seventh, but OKC tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a two out wild pitch by Rob Delaney.
Oklahoma City took an early 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI triple by Jason Jaramillo. Salt Lake first baseman Efren Navarro tied the game with a RBI double.
Overall, the Bees managed just five hits, led by Trent Oeltjen with two hits, including a double. Cousins and Navarro each had one hit and one run batted in.
The loss gives Salt Lake a 4-4 record on their eight game road trip.
