Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, thinks that the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, may be grounds for impeaching the president ("Chaffetz: Obama impeachment 'possible' over Benghazi attack," Tribune, May 14).

Does he likewise think that President George W. Bush should have been impeached for the attacks on U.S. missions in foreign countries that resulted in loss of American lives on his watch?

• 2004, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, 2 dead

• 2006, Damascus, Syria, 4 dead

• 2008, Belgrade, Serbia, 1 dead

• 2008, Istanbul, Turkey, 6 dead

• 2008, Sana'a, Yemen, 19 dead

My congressional representative should consider another "I" word.

For the above attacks, for not anticipating the 9/11 attacks; for the deaths of 4,222 Americans in Iraq and 3,294 coalition forces in Afghanistan; for 110,600 Iraqi deaths; and about 33,128 Afghani civilians from 2001-2008, "indictment" would be a good word to use in discussing our former president's future.

As author Tom Ricks said on Fox News last fall: "The emphasis on Benghazi has been extremely political, partly because Fox was operating as a wing of the Republican Party."

Give it up, Chaffetz. Our country has far more important issues to address than this fictional coverup.
