Box Elder's McCall Uyematsu got her revenge Wednesday.

She finished three strokes behind the leader and had to watch as her team again finished second to the Bonneville Lakers in the Class 4A girls' golf state championship last year.

Fast-forward a year, and Uyematsu and the Bees are the ones celebrating.

Uyematsu shot a tournament-best 79 to lead Box Elder to the 4A crown Wednesday at the Barn Golf Club in Pleasant View.

Uyematsu, Andra Walker, Mallary Marx, Ashley Pyle and Bailey Craynor combined for a high Stableford score of 306, edging out two-time defending champion Bonneville for the crown.

The Lakers had three golfers shoot in the 80s and a team score of 294.

"Box Elder is a worthy champion," Bonneville coach Blair Garner said. "You can't feel too bad losing to a team that's as good as they are."

Box Elder and Bonneville battled all year, splitting their four region matches.

"I think we make each other better," Garner said. "We're always fighting. ... It's us battling back and forth, and we make each other better."

Uyematsu's 79 was two strokes better than Timpanogos' Monica Yeates. Orem's McKenzie Maughn shot an 83, and Box Elder's Mallary Marx finished with an 84.

Skyline finished one point behind Bonneville, led by Noelle Bell's 85. —
