A 50-year-old woman died in a crash Wednesday night in Magna.
She was a passenger in a Honda Accord that was going east on 3200 South when a silver Nissan Sentra ran a red light at 7200 West and crashed into her side of the car, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. The crash, which occurred about 8:18 p.m., sent the Nissan veering to the left and into a backyard near the intersection.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police are waiting to notify her next of kin before releasing her identity.
Her 38-year-old female driver was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition, and a 6-year-old boy in the backseat suffered minor injuries as well. The 16-year-old boy who had been driving the Nissan was not hurt, Hoyal said.
UPD is still investigating the crash and shut down the intersection for at least two hours Wednesday night.
