NBA: Jerry Sloan no longer interested in Milwaukee coaching job

Former Jazz coach Jerry Sloan has pulled out of consideration for the vacant job with the Milwaukee Bucks, NBA.com reported Thursday night.

Sloan talked to officials from the Bucks last week at his farm in McLeansboro, Ill., and the team was said to be "seriously" interested in him.

According to NBA.com, however, agent Keith Glass said Sloan has decided to withdraw from consideration. Glass is "advising Sloan on potential head coaching jobs."

"The bottom line is, Jerry doesn't really feel it's the right fit for him right now," said Glass, who added that Sloan remains interested in coaching again.

"His name keeps popping up with every job, and he hasn't applied for anything. He had a real nice meeting with them. ... It's just not the right fit for Jerry, from Jerry's point of view. That's not a negative thing; that's just the reality."

Two weeks ago, Sloan told The Salt Lake Tribune he'd like to return to coaching with a team that "had a chance to win a few games."

Glass repeated that aspect of Sloan's interest in a future coaching job: "For Jerry to go to a place that's going to take years to build — and I'm not talking about Milwaukee, I'm talking about anywhere — that's just not right for him. They have to be able to compete. Jerry is a competitor, and he wants to compete and teach."
