Greensboro, N.C. • North Carolina third baseman Colin Moran is the Atlantic Coast Conference's player of the year and teammate Kent Emanuel is its pitcher of the year.

The ACC announced its postseason awards Monday. Virginia outfielder Joe McCarthy was selected as the freshman of the year while the Cavaliers' Brian O'Connor is its coach of the year.

Moran leads the nation with 83 RBIs and hit .376 while becoming the seventh UNC player to win the ACC award and first since current Seattle Mariners second baseman Dustin Ackley in 2009.

Emanuel went 9-3 with a 2.28 ERA and became the third UNC pitcher to win the award since its creation in 2005. McCarthy hit .333 and reached base in 36 consecutive games for the Cavaliers (45-9, 22-8).
