After three years at the helm of KUED, general manager Michael A. Dunn is stepping down to return to the private sector."It's the right time," he said. "KUED has never been in a better place. We're moving ahead. I think we're the envy of the [PBS] system."Dunn came to Channel 7 in May 2010 from a career in advertising, marketing and film production."We were lucky to attract him," said Fred Esplin, the University of Utah's vice president of university relations. "He's done a great job. It's a terrible, terrible loss for us. We're going to miss him."Dunn has accepted a position as chief marketing officer of chief marketing officer of ski boot and running shoe manufacturer Surefoot in Park City. But he's not leaving KUED behind altogether."I will miss KUED and all the people there," he said. "But I'm going back to my former position with the station as a volunteer and viewer."An interim replacement will be named in the next few days, Esplin said. The university will form a committee and launch a national search for Dunn's replacement, which could take up to six months."We're hoping to have someone in place by September," Esplin said.
