Jeff Hornacek has come to terms to coach the Phoenix Suns, the team with which he spent the first six years of his playing career, according to a report in the Arizona Republic.

Hornacek, 50, has been a member of Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin's staff since 2011, when he replaced Jerry Sloan midseason. Hornacek played 6 1/2 seasons with the Jazz, including two trips to the NBA Finals, but maintained his family home in the Phoenix area.

Earlier this spring, Hornacek interviewed for jobs with the Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Bobcats. Last year, he was a candidate in Orlando before that job went to Hornacek's former Jazz teammate Jacque Vaughn.

Per The Arizona Republic, Hornacek is expected to sign a three-year contract in Phoenix by Monday morning. A former All-Star in Phoenix, Hornacek comes from an impressive line of coaches, most notably playing for both Sloan and Cotton Fitzsimmons.

Before officially joining Corbin's staff in 2011, Hornacek had been affiliated with the team as a shooting coach. In recent years, he has been credited for working closely with swingman and former lottery pick Gordon Hayward.

Hornacek's anticipated departure means Corbin will have a spot to fill on the bench. One likely candidate is already in-house. Player development director Brad Jones, a former scout who returned to the team a year ago, is highly regarded within the organization and has plenty of coaching experience, including a D-League championship in Austin, Texas.
