The Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper was out of Monday's lineup against the Baltimore Orioles due to bursitis in his left knee.

Washington manager Davey Johnson says Harper aggravated his sore knee in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies with multiple headfirst slides and by hitting a foul ball off of it.

Team medical director Wiemi Douoguih said the outfielder has inflammation of the bursa sac in front of his knee, which he anticipates clearing up in a couple of days. Harper underwent an MRI which showed some soft tissue swelling, but no structural damage, Douoguih said.

Padres • Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal will be reinstated Tuesday from a 50-game suspension for a positive testosterone test that called into question just how good his rookie numbers were.

Beyond saying he made a "mistake," Grandal has never told team officials why he took PEDs. Now they say Grandal will have to quiet any skepticism with his play.

Grandal was part of San Diego's second-half resurgence in 2012, hitting .297 with eight home runs and 36 RBIs in 60 games.

Rays • AL Cy Young Award winner David Price has resumed playing catch as part of his rehab program for a strained left triceps.

The Tampa Bay Rays left-hander, who was put on the disabled list for the first time in his career May 16, made 35 throws in right field before Monday's game against Miami.

There is no timeline for when Price will return, but the injury is not expected to pose a long-term problem. Price is 1-4 with a 5.24 ERA after going 20-5 with a 2.56 ERA in 2012.
