Missing audience

The Grand Theater's production of the Tony award-winning musical "La Cage Aux Folles" should not have been missed. Sadly, that's exactly what happened; the auditorium was about one-third full on the final performance last Saturday night.

I can't understand how a show with fabulous dancing, wonderful songs and an incredibly talented cast (mostly local actors) doesn't pack the house. "La Cage" was funny, moving and sometimes appropriately over the top, with elaborate costumes and sets.

Wake up, Utahns, we have Broadway-caliber theater right here at a fraction of the cost. It makes one wonder how the soon-to-be-built humongous "Broadway-style" theater in downtown will possibly survive.
