Re "Boy Scouts approve plan to accept openly gay boys" (Tribune, May 13):

I've followed the general celebration of the Boy Scouts' recent acceptance of gay youth, and I am left with this question: Am I the only one who refuses to celebrate the Boy Scouts for doing the bare minimum of what public relations required them to do?

It's not that this action is not a marginally good thing, it's that it's so blatant an attempt to maintain relevancy that it's almost insulting to the very people they're pretending to now care about.

Would anyone really be celebrating the KKK if they announced that black children were now acceptable, but black adults were still inferior?
