Utah's wet and wild beginning to the week was expected to ease toward a return to more spring-like, warmer and drier weather beginning Thursday.

The Wasatch Front looked once more for high temperatures in the upper-60s with occasional thunderstorms and showers on Wednesday, but on Thursday the forecast was for cloudy skies giving way to sunshine and highs near 70 degrees.

Thursday also was expected to see the Hazardous Weather Outlook still in place to weaken as gusty winds and storms faded for the western two-thirds of the state.

Southern Utahns looked for highs near 90 degrees on Thursday and calmer conditions, too, after a forecast Wednesday for winds of up to 25 mph and high temperatures in the mid- to upper-80s.

The aftermath of the stormy weather brought fresher atmospheric conditions. The Utah Division of Air Quality rated the entire state as "Green," or healthy for breathing. Allergy sufferers also were getting a better report from the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma pollen index, which rated only grass at "high" levels, and mold at "moderate."

Salt Lake City's high for Thursday was pegged at 70, echoing the forecast for Wednesday; Ogden looked for 66s, respectively; Provo 71 and 70; Logan 64 and 65; Wendover 71 and 68; Duchesne 69 and 68; Cedar City 78 and 74; St. George 91 and 87; and Moab 79 and 74 degrees.
