A longtime fixture in Park City's downtown hotel community died after apparently falling through a ceiling on her property.

The Park Record reported that Carol Rixey, 86, died Monday night. She was found dead on an upstairs floor of the Star Hotel on Main Street just after 11 p.m.

Police and family said it appeared that Rixey, who had owned the Star Hotel since 1975, had fallen through the sheetrock ceiling while working on a fan.
