College lacrosse: Four Griffins Named MCLA All-Americans

Greenville, S.C. • The Westminster College men's lacrosse team has had four players named a MCLA All-American and three more recognized as honorable mention.

The MCLA office announced Wednesday that the Griffins' Collin Madsen, Matt Lambourne, Jake Arthur and Kyle Postler were each named to one of the three All-America teams.

Madsen was named to the first team at midfield after leading the Griffins with 50 goals scored during the season. The 5-foot-8 junior from Salt Lake City also recorded 31 assists for a total of 81 points. He recorded at least one point in all 23 games of the year while scoring multiple goals on 16 occasions. Madsen had a stretch of 10 straight games with multiple goals at one point during the year. This is the first All-American honor for Madsen and he becomes the 12th Griffin to be named to the first team.

Lambourne was selected to the second team at defense. The 6-foot-1 senior from Salt Lake City was the centerpiece of a Westminster defense that allowed just 6.17 goals per game this season. He picked up 52 ground balls during the year and also won 29-of-72 faceoffs (40.3 percent). This is the second time that Lambourne has been named an All-American and the sixth time a Griffin has made the second team.

Arthur was one of two Griffins that were named to this year's third team. As a 6-foot senior from South Jordan, Utah, Arthur was selected at midfield after scoring 42 goals during the year while adding 11 assists for 53 points. He scored in 14 games and had multiple goals in 13 of those contests before suffering a shoulder injury. Arthur became the Westminster career leader in goals this season and finished his career with 152 goals scored. This is his second All-American selection after being named to the first team last season.

Postler was also selected to the third team at attack. The 6-foot sophomore from Norwood, Mass. led the team with 84 points this season after setting a school-record with 49 assists. His 84 points ranks third in school history and he led the RMLC in assists. Postler had at least one assist in 20 of the 23 games played this season and he also scored at least one goal in 20 games. This is the first All-American selection for Postler and he joins Arthur to give Westminster eight third team selection all-time.

Chris Burckle, Elias Fairman and Pat Hagan were recognized by the MCLA as honorable mention All-Americans. Burckle was selected at goalie with Fairman being named at midfield and Hagan as LSM.

Westminster just completed its final season as a Division II member of the MCLA by going 17-6 and advancing to the championship game of the MCLA National Championships. They established a new school record with those 17 wins and only had two losses to MCLA Division II teams.
