It's a new regime at Salt Lake magazine.
Mary Brown Malouf, a longtime writer and editor at the glossy mag, has been promoted to editor, the magazine's publisher announced Wednesday. She replaces Marcie Young Cancio, who has left the publication for a job in business development at the Economic Development Corporation of Utah.
Malouf is a former staff writer and restaurant critic here at The Salt Lake Tribune, and has worked at D magazine, the Dallas Observer, the Dallas Morning News and wine.com.
Taking on the job of managing editor is Glen Warchol, familiar to Salt Lake Tribune readers for his years as a reporter and blogger (launching the infamous "Salt Lake Crawler" blog). He's also Malouf's husband.
Seeing Warchol, who was notorious within the Tribune newsroom for the arguments he would get into with editors, become an editor himself is reminiscent of Harvey Dent's line from "The Dark Knight": "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
Good luck to both of The Cricket's former colleagues.
