The museums and artwork owned by the state of Utah now have a new caretaker.
Lynnette Hiskey has been named director of the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, the agency announced Wednesday.
The search panel looked nationwide, but ultimately went with an internal promotion. Hiskey has spent the last nine years as assistant director. Her old boss, Margaret Hunt, recently left Utah for a job in Colorado.
"Lynnette has the experience to connect with and strengthen arts, museums, and cultural organizations that are key to the local economies of many of our cities and towns in Utah," said Julie Fisher, executive director of the Department of Heritage & Arts, in a statement.
Hiskey said she aims to increase "awareness of the public value of the arts and museums and education, economic development and quality of life."
The agency is responsible for promoting arts and Utah museums, and oversees the state's Office of Museum Services and the Utah Arts Council.
