A fire in a Payson house displaced at least three adults living there and consumed much of the residence Friday night.

Payson Fire Inspector Terry Reilly said the cause of fire was still unknown. Firefighters were still monitoring the blaze late Friday night. It was not yet safe enough for them to enter the still-smoldering house, he said.

The fire department received multiple 911 calls about the fire at about 8:40 p.m. When firefighters arrived, the house was fully involved with visible smoke and flames, Reilly said. Crews from Santaquin, Salem and Elk Ridge also responded to the scene.

Reilly described the damage as "very extensive," although the exact amount wasn't yet clear Friday night.

"That home will be uninhabitable for a long time," Reilly said.

None of the home's residents, three adults, including at least one person renting out the basement, were injured in the blaze.
