Re "Mormon-owned DI cuts workers' hours, avoids Obamacare rule" (Tribune, May 30):

It's interesting that organizations like Deseret Industries and Granite School District, and many private companies, are not interested in paying for health care insurance for their low-wage, 30-hour employees (refugee clothes sorters and bus drivers).

Sadly, these people are the ones who cannot afford to purchase individual health insurance. Not to worry — many are "eligible for premium tax subsidies and Medicaid."

Conservatives are mad that the Affordable Care Act forces large employers to provide insurance for full-time (30 hours or more) employees, but they're also frustrated that they're paying for others' health care through government relief programs or emergency room write-offs.

They offer no real solution, but they then have the gall to be upset when they're accused of not having compassion!
