Glad Romney lost | The Salt Lake Tribune

Two items in the May 30 Tribune:

1. The obituary of an American hero who had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and flew 30 missions as a ball turret gunner over Europe. After the war, Vincent George Lopez became an electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 62 years.

2. The front-page article about Mitt Romney's plans for his first 100 days as president ("What could have been: Leavitt details plans for President Romney," Tribune, May 30). Romney would have "tossed out labor requirements for federal contracts" — pesky labor unions that want outrageous things like fair wages, good benefits, safe working conditions and which have a nasty habit of voting for Democrats.

Regardless of his politics, the ball turret gunner would have been left out. Every day the sun rises on the United States and Romney isn't president is a good day.
