A male domestic violence suspect bolted through the front door as Salt Lake City police officers questioned the female victim, but the man's brazen bid for freedom was short-lived.
Police say the 34-year-old man ran out the door of the southeast Salt Lake City home near 2600 South and 600 East about 1 a.m. Officers were questioning a woman at the time in the doorway.
After a brief foot chase, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
He was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of second-degree felony aggravated assault, third-degree felony domestic violence in the presence of a child and failure to stop at the command of a police officer, a class A misdemeanor.
A probable cause statement alleged the suspect choked the woman into unconsciousness in the presence of an 11-year-old child.
He remained behind bars Monday in lieu of $2,337 bail.
