Utah forecast: Sunshine and clear skies to get over the hump

The "hump day" forecast for Utah — clear, sunny skies and warm temperatures is one stand-up comedian and balladeer of the strange Matt Graham could sing about.

But then, Graham pretty much writes songs about anything, including Wednesdays.

Still, there is cause to smile looking ahead, weather-wise. Wednesday's high temperatures along the Wasatch Front on Wednesday will hover near 80 degrees, sort of a climatological doppelgänger for Tuesday's northern Utah forecast.

Southern Utahns, meanwhile, were slathering on the sunscreen, adjusting those polarized shades on their noses and digging out the cutoffs. Temperatures both Tuesday and Wednesday were expected to flirt with triple digits under mostly clear and sun-drenched skies. An evening breeze will help cool things down a bit.

Air quality statewide into the mid-week was getting a "Green," or healthy rating from the Utah Division of Air Quality.

However, if you have grass pollen sensitivity, it might be time to break out your favorite anti-allergy meds. The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma web site put grass at "very high" on its index as of Tuesday, with privet and oak pollen coming in at "high" pollen levels.

Salt Lake City's high on Wednesday was pegged at 81, up from Tuesday's forecast for 79 degrees; Ogden looked for 80 and 75, respectively; Provo 83 and 82; Logan 78 and 74; Wednesday 84 and 81; Duchesne 81s; Cedar City 87s; St. George 100s; and Moab 89 and 93 degrees.
