I find it appalling that a multi-million-dollar corporation like The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is trying to avoid complying with the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) by cutting employees' hours at Deseret Industries to fewer than 30 hours per week so it doesn't have to provide them health insurance ("Mormon-owned DI cuts workers' hours, avoids Obamacare rule," Tribune, May 30).
LDS Church spokeswoman Ruth Todd explained the cuts as a way "to serve as many people as possible." That is a lame excuse, used to deny affordable health care to employees.
