Bicycle Operations School is now in session.

On Wednesday, the Salt Lake City Police Department hosted a training exercise for officers interested in patrolling the city on bicycles. The session was designed to prepare police not only for the "rigor" of urban patrol but for riding mountainous terrain in the city's foothills.

Officers rode their bicycles through an obstacle course, practiced chasing a running suspect and maneuvering with a fellow officer to trap a fleeing suspect.
