Utah forecast: Mostly clear skies, warmer at the mid-week

"Ain't no sunshine when she's gone, it's not warm when she's away," R&B singer Bill Withers once lamented.

Good thing he recorded that Grammy winner more than four decades ago. Even Withers might have found the blues elusive looking at Utah's Thursday forecast.

The National Weather Service predicted temperatures near 90, under mostly clear and sunny skies for the Wasatch Front on Thursday, about 5 degrees warmer than Wednesday's forecast.

Southern Utahns expected to see the mercury flirt with triple digits both days, and actually hit 102 degrees on Thursday in the St. George area. Once again, skies will be mostly clear and bathed in sunlight in Utah's Dixie.

The Utah Division of Air Quality rated the entire state at "Green," or healthy for breathability.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma web site had generally good news for pollen-sensitive Utahns: only mold and oak were rated at "high," while grass pollen was at "moderate."

Salt Lake City's high temperature on Thursday was pegged at 89, up from Wednesday's forecast for 84 degrees; Ogden looked for 88 and 82 degrees, respectively; Provo 90 and 86; Logan 85 and 80; Wendover 89 and 85; Duchesne 86 and 85; Cedar City 89s; St. George 102 and 100; and Moab 92 and 90 degrees.
