Two letters in the June 4 Public Forum brought up, in different ways, the idea that perhaps the Hogle Zoo's location is past its prime.
In "Move the zoo," Rosemary A. Holt, suggested that we should move the zoo to a new location that would be more accessible to a larger portion of the population.
In "Zoo: Location, location," Anthony Malone suggested that the present zoo is not distinct enough to be considered "distinctly Utah," as it was recently christened by The Tribune.
I have a suggestion: Swap locations with the Utah State Prison. After all, the cages already exist at both locations and this would certainly make Utah's zoo distinct. And maybe there would be enough land left over to allow a legislator or two to make a buck.
