Every day the news features Utah Attorney General John Swallow. Even his supporters are now turning on him.

It does not matter anymore whether all he is guilty of is poor judgment, or even if he broke the law. With the black cloud over his head, he cannot function as the state's legal point man.

For the good of Utah, he should resign. Utah's attorney general should be above suspicion and set a high ethical example.

The attorney general should probably be appointed. It has become too apparent that the high cost of getting elected to local and national offices corrupts and compromises even good people, let alone the John Swallows of this world.

Swallow is another in a long line of classic examples of the arrogance and conceit of the majority party in this state. This guy spent years selling his soul to get elected. The assumption is it's OK — you're bulletproof because you're a Republican.

Chill out. I am sure that in blue states Democrats are just as bad.
