No good caucuses

I disagree with almost everything Chuck Newton wrote about how well Utah's caucuses work in giving people choices ("Keep caucuses," Forum, June 5).

People who went to their Republican caucus meetings in 2010 were intimidated and shouted down by Mike Lee's supporters. Why else would Orrin Hatch have become the über-tea partyer?

Newton's really ridiculous comment came at the end: Democrats supposedly are now the party of socialists, communists and environmentalists, and Republicans have absorbed the libertarians. The real truth is, any Republican of previous generations would happily call themselves Democrats now.
