North Ogden's police chief was injured Thursday after accidentally shooting himself in the arm during a training exercise.

Detective Paul Rhoades said Chief Kevin Warren sustained a gunshot wound to his right forearm. He was transported to Ogden Regional Medical Center, and is expected to recover, Rhoades said.

The shooting occurred during training at the department's shooting range. Rhoades said the exercise was being supervised by two certified firearms instructors.

The incident was still under investigation Thursday, Rhoades said. The Weber County Attorney's Office will conduct its own independent investigation into the shooting.
