University of Utah police Monday morning investigated a report of a suspicious package arriving at the school's Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library.
The call came in about 9:20 a.m. of a package being delivered covered in a white powdery substance. Delivery of the package reportedly was expected.
By 10:15 a.m., however, police said the powder had been determined to be harmless.
No injuries were reported and no evacuations were ordered.
U of U police Sgt. Garth Smith said the substance turned out to be dust the package containing a book lent to a Midwest librarian by the university had gathered during shipping.
The university's Environmental Health and Safety inspected and cleared the package.
