Washington • The U.S. House passed legislation sponsored by Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, on Tuesday that would give the city of Fruit Heights 100 acres of Forest Service land to build a city cemetery.
Nearby Kaysville city leaders have blocked Fruit Heights residents from buying plots in its cemetery, citing population growth.
The city would pay the federal government for survey and administrative costs.
The bill now awaits action in the Senate.
