Utah Arts Festival • Watch dancers climb the walls, interact with street performers, look at and buy art objects, see short films, help create community artworks, eat a variety of food, listen to live music and let the kids make their own crafts at the 2013 Utah Art Festival.

ADMISSION • $12 a day for adults; free for kids 12 and under; $6 for seniors 65 and older; $35 for a 4-day pass.

Music • The emo pop-rockers, Fall Out Boy, will perform from their new album "Save Rock & Roll Tour." Bassist, lyricist and tattoo enthusiast Pete Wentz recently finished hosting the second season of "Best Ink," a competition on the Oxygen network.

Theatre • The University of Utah's Babcock Theatre present the musical comedy "Once Upon a Mattress" — adapted from Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea."

WHEN • Today, June 23, 2 and 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 28, 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, June 29-30, 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Beards and mustaches • Your wait is over, facial hair fans. The first annual Utah Beard and Moustache Championships are Saturday in Salt Lake City. (Yes, they are spelling moustache the British way. It's more stylish.) If you haven't already started training for competition, it's probably too late. But feel free to go watch.

Mormon Pageant • One of central Utah's biggest summer events starts this weekend. The Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti celebrates Joseph Smith and the founding of his church through theater and other events. Go to www.mormonmiracle.org for more information.

WHEN • Today through Saturday, June 22, and again June 25-29

WHERE • Most events happen in proximity to the Manti Temple, on Temple Hill in the town

Balloon Festival • Big balls of air take to the sky Saturday in the central Utah town of Salina. The Eyes to the Sky Balloon Festival has activities on the ground, too, including a three-on-three basketball tournament, a classic car show and a fire department breakfast. WHEN • Today through Sunday, June 23, with balloon launches at 6:30 a.m.

WHERE • Launches are 1 mile west of Salina, other events throughout town

Television • Just a bit to the south of Utah, there will be some craziness this weekend on TV. "Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda" will feature the circus perform trying to walk 1,500 feet on a highwire suspended over the Grand Canyon — and he's not wearing a safety harness. (It's also not exactly the Grand Canyon — it's the Little Colorado River Gorge outside the national park.)

Local sports on TV • There's Arena Football League on Friday — Utah Blaze at Spokane Shock (8 p.m., Channel 14); and Major League Soccer on Saturday — Seattle Sounders at Real Salt Lake (7:30 p.m., Channel 4)
