Cromwell, Conn. • U.S. Open champion Justin Rose has no plans to take any time off after winning his first major championship.
Nathan Grube, the tournament director at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut, says he received a call from Rose's wife, Kate, at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, and knew it was going to be either really bad news or really good news. She was confirming they would be at the tournament this week.
The Travelers held its opening ceremony on Monday morning.
Andy Bessette, the chief administrative officer for Travelers, says the company is in negotiations to remain the title sponsor of the Connecticut PGA stop, and expects to finalize a deal before September.
The company, which took over the title sponsorship in 2006, has a deal that expires after the 2014 event.
