NBA notes: Popovich takes shot at Danny Green; Iverson accused of abduction

After Danny Green hit six more 3-pointers to break Ray Allen's record for 3-pointers in an NBA Finals series, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was asked if he saw any similarities in the paths Green and former defensive stopper Bruce Bowen took to the NBA.

Both took circuitous routes to get to the Spurs, and both would emerge as reliable spot-up shooters and strong defenders. Bowen was considered an elite defender in his day with the Spurs, while Green is shooting the 3 better than anyone has in finals history.

"I guess they both are similar in the fact that neither one of them has any moves," Popovich deadpanned. "They just shoot it. They don't really dribble or do anything else. They just shoot it. So in that sense, they are kind of similar."

To be fair, Green did score on a couple of backdoor cuts near the basket, but there is no doubt that he has done most of his damage by hanging out around the perimeter and waiting for the ball to swing to him.

"I've been getting lucky," Green said. "I was moving around a lot. Our transition helps us, our pace. Tony [Parker] penetrating and Manu [Ginobili] penetrating, making the defense collapse is the reason why I've been getting open. Luckily a couple have dropped for me."

Iverson accused of abducting kids

Former former Philadelphia 76ers star Allen Iverson is being accused by his ex-wife, Tawanna Iverson, of abducting his own children, according to several media reports. Tawanna Iverson filed court documents in Atlanta claiming that her ex-husband failed to return their five children, who range in age from age 3 to 16, after a five-day vacation to Charlotte, N.C. Tawanna, who has sole custody of the children, wants the courts to force him to bring them back. She contends that Iverson never went to North Carolina and has the children staying at a hotel in Georgia.

Nuggets hire GM

The Denver Nuggets have settled on a general manager. Now, they can concentrate on finding a new coach. Team President Josh Kroenke confirmed Monday that Tim Connelly will take over for Masai Ujiri, who left to become general manager of the Toronto Raptors. Connelly's official title will be executive vice president of basketball operations. He has been serving as the assistant GM with the New Orleans Pelicans since 2010. His first order of business with the Nuggets will be finding a replacement for George Karl after the longtime coach was fired nearly two weeks ago. Former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins is expected to interview for the Nuggets' vacant job and Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw remains a hot commodity as well.
