Millcreek petition

Last November, voters in Millcreek chose by more than 60 percent to remain an unincorporated township, but those who lost haven't given up.

Millcreek's borders are protected by law. However, residents can petition to be annexed to adjacent cities. We now have a group who want to nibble away portions of the township by having their neighborhoods become part of Holladay through the process of annexation petitions.

If you live in Millcreek township, do you know all the facts? You'll hear different tax rates bandied about. Not all are accurate.

If you signed the annexation petition, that is your vote to become part of Holladay. You don't get a chance later to vote on this.

They just need 51 percent of people in the proposed area to sign. If you have signed, you can withdraw your signature by submitting a signed withdrawal to the recorder of Holladay City.

Why revisit this issue so soon after voters spoke strongly against being part of a city? There is plenty of time to make changes later, if we choose.
