Temperatures continue to cool in Utah, but ..

Gusty winds, warm temperatures and dry conditions are creating the perfect environment for a wildfire to spread quickly throughout much of the state Thursday.

While the entire state is on fire weather watch, the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a red flag warning for eastern and southern Utah on Thursday, indicating that the windy weather matched with low humidity will create the opportunity for wildfires to spread quickly. That warning is set to expire Thursday evening.

In northern Utah, temperatures are expected to remain cooler, with a bit of humidity on Thursday. Salt Lake City is expected to see a high of 76 degrees on Thursday, with the high expected to reach 80 degrees on Friday, while Ogden will experience similar conditions with a high of 74 expected Thursday and 80 on Friday. Further north, Logan is expected to reach 75 degrees Thursday, and will climb to 80 degrees Friday.

In southern Utah, Cedar City is expected to have a high of 80 degrees Thursday, and 83 on Friday, while St. George will be warmer, with a high of 93 degrees expected on Thursday, and 97 on Friday.

Thursday is expected to be a "green" air quality day, with good and moderate conditions expected statewide.
