Mild temperatures projected for weekend

Mild temperatures Friday and Saturday are expected to give way to a small heat wave starting Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs in Salt Lake City were expected to reach 82 degrees on Friday and 80 on Saturday, about normal for this time of year. On Sunday, temperatures are expected to rise to 89 degrees and stay high into early next week.

Conditions are expected to remain dry and breezy throughout the state, sustaining critical fire danger, NWS reported. The risk is not expected to let up, with temperatures rising and moisture staying low.

In St. George, highs of 96 degrees and 98 degrees were projected for Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Logan's highs were forecast to reach 77 degrees on Friday and Saturday, rising to 87 degrees on Sunday.

Highs in Moab were projected to reach 94 degrees Friday, 93 degrees on Saturday and 95 degrees on Sunday.

In Vernal, temperatures were expected to reach 84 degrees Friday and Saturday, and 85 degrees on Sunday.

Provo's highs were forecast to reach 83 degrees and 81 degrees Friday and Saturday, respectively, spiking to 90 degrees on Sunday.
