Bagley guest cartoonist: Lalo Alcaraz

Cartoonist's Note: While I take time away from drawing to organize the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists convention http://editorialcartoonists.com/aaecweb/convention.cfm , I am featuring the work of some attendees. Lalo Alcaraz's cartoons appeal to America's growing Latino population.

He does editorial cartoons for the LA Weekly but is best known for his cartoon strip "La Cucaracha", which also occasionally dips its toe into the political. Whereas most cartoonists are officially above the fray, Lalo is an unapologetic Latino activist who donated art to the Obama campaign and hosts a radio show called the "Pocho Hour of Power".

Cartoonists in Latin America are rock stars and Lalo has connected with his community in a way that baffles most of his paler colleagues. Actually, we're just jealous.
