Don't drink the water • The Health Department is warning people not to drink secondary water, which many property owners buy to irrigate their lawns, gardens and farms. That water is untreated and can be a source of bacteria and disease. Health officials also are encouraging adults to keep children from playing in sprinklers and wading pools or drinking from hoses if the source comes from secondary water.

Dig into desert animals • Learn fun facts about desert tortoises, short-eared owls and red-tailed hawks as part of Davis County Library's Dig Into Reading program. The sessions begin at 3 p.m. on July 3 at the Central Branch, 155 N. Wasatch Drive in Layton; July 9 at the Centerville Branch, 45 S. 400 West; July 11 at the South Branch, 725 S.
