Tooele • There's no stopping Carl Renezeder in the Pro 4 Class of the Lucas Off Road Racing Series.

On Saturday afternoon at Miller Motorsports Park, Renezeder won his seven straight race this year and a record-setting ninth in a row overall, going back to last season.

"It's a surreal moment," said Renezeder, who is from Laguna Beach, Calif. "... I feel really blessed right now."

A year ago, Renezeder also reached a milestone at Miller Motorsports Park when he recorded the 100th victory of his career.

Asked if he remembered, Renezeder nodded and said, "That's right. This has been a good place for me."

Starting on the pole for the 16-lap Pro 4 race around Miller's challenging off-road course, Renezeder led almost all the way. He defeated runner-up Kyle LeDuc of Beaumont, Calif., by 1.18 seconds. Eric Barron of Barona, Calif., finished third, 1.635 seconds behind the winner.

"It's never easy, I guarantee you, because the other guys out here are so good," Renezeder said. "They can win a race at any time."

For an instant, it looked like Rob MacCachren of Las Vegas might be the driver who ended Renezeder's winning streak.

MacCachren stalked Renezeder for the first 12 laps of the race before moving to the inside and taking the lead.

When Renezeder tapped MacCachren's bumper, LeDuc also dropped to the inside part of the track and moved into second place.

It didn't stay that way for long.

Seconds later, the three leaders charged into Turn 4, but MacCachren slid sideways and could not maintain control. As MacCachren's truck rolled, Renezeder roared back into the lead.

"Just a lot of fast guys trying to get to the front," Renezeder said. "I went a little high on Turn 2 and got pushed out. So I was a little out of position. ...

"Rob, once he got by me, he braked and our bumpers hooked up. That's when Kyle got through. It was a little chaotic out there for just a moment."

After a caution flag forced a restart, Renezeder never trailed. He maintained a safe lead over LeDuc and Barron during the final three laps to score his historic win.

For LeDuc, who moved past MacCachren and into second place in the Pro 4 season-points standings, his runner-up finish marked the end of a miserable few days.

The problem? Food poisoning, which sent him to the hospital twice for treatment.

"It sucks," LeDuc said. "... [But] I'm sure glad to be on the podium."

Meanwhile, in the other three series classes, MacCachren gained some revenge in Pro 2 when he beat Renezeder by more than eight seconds; Steve Greinke of Huntington Beach, Calif., won in Pro Buggy; and R.J. Anderson of Riverside, Calif., won the Pro Lites. —
