Two males were critically injured in a crash Sunday evening in West Valley City.

A minivan going south on 4000 West ran a red light upon reaching South Frontage Road (2100 South), said West Valley City Police Sgt. Trudy Cropper. The minivan struck an eastbound truck about 7:30 p.m., causing the truck to spin around and flip onto its side, she said.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with critical but not life-threatening injuries, Cropper said. Neither had any passengers.

Police shut down the area for a while to clear the crash and give the Utah Department of Transportation room to repair some damage to the road.
