DVD • "Last Resort" had one of the best pilots on TV in the fall of 2012. When Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher), commander of the ballistic missile submarine Colorado, is ordered to nuke Pakistan, he requests confirmation — and his ship is fired upon by another U.S. warship.

Chaplin takes drastic measures to ensure the safety of his crew — he commandeers an island. And there are jaw-dropping developments you'd never expect to see on a network show. "Last Resort" might have made a great movie.

It didn't make such a great TV series, quickly losing its way and quickly getting canceled. It did run 13 episodes, and there is a resolution that won't leave you hanging — but it will leave you wishing the show had lived up to its early promise. —
